RUBINA ADAM, BSW, MSW, RSW, RSSW
MEMBER OF THE OCSWSSW, PSYCHOTHERAPIST
For over 20 years, I have been providing people with mental health support. My early career involved working with dual diagnosis individuals while completing my Social Service Worker diploma at Humber College in Toronto. Building on this experience, I continued my learning and understanding of mental health practices while completing an Honours BSW degree from York University, as well as my Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Windsor.
Over the past two decades, I have practiced in a wide variety of clinical settings including crisis intervention, structured outpatient programs, outpatient specialty and inpatient psychiatric clinics, large nonprofits, and private practice. Throughout this time, I have had the opportunity to teach courses in case management, and provide clinical and administrative supervision to numerous social work students, interns and professionals.
My clinical experience includes working with people across all stages of life in the following areas:
• Anxiety Disorders
• Depression and Bipolar Disorder
• Chronic Mental Illness
• Behavioural and Discipline Challenges
• Self-Harm Behaviour
• Complicated Grief Reactions
• Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness
• Anger and Stress Management
• Family and Relationship Issues
• Suicide Assessment and Risk Reduction
• Self-image and Self-Esteem Issues
• Grief Counselling
My practice is rooted in an empowerment approach. I work in partnership with you to build on your strengths, help you grow through your challenges, and achieve a sense of healing. As part of the process, we identify all aspects of life that impact your overall well-being together, including support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, physical health and faith/spirituality.
My goal is to provide you with a safe space to deepen your understanding and learning of your sense of self, based on a firm foundation of empowerment and self-awareness.
